Ichi ban means number one in Japanese, and
I just had to give this wine a rating of ten. The only
issue that I can see with it is the price versus what you
are getting in the bottle, but that in itself balances it
out, since it is a premium sake (and ounce for ounce it is
probably on bar with many champagnes like Dom Perignon).
I can't believe Silvio ([Lelli] of
NationWide Wine & Spirits, LLC) was holding this one
out on me for awhile.
This wine has the most delightful taste of
guava, grapefruit, and maybe even honeysuckle, and I can
say that it can easily compete with, and bypass the taste
of any mimosa or bellini (too bad that I mix my bubbly with
either pineapple, grapefruit or pomegranate juice). This
is definitely a wine to keep stashed away for a late night
rendezvous, or an early morning intimate tete-a-tete.
Again, find this wine, and cop a case of
it; yes, it will cost you a c-note easily, but you'll find
that it's money well spent.
